CPI Maoist zonal commander of Bishrampur area, Vinuji who had studied till class 12 wanted to be an army officer but could not be because he was asked for a bribe to get the job which distressed him and forced him to join the Naxals instead to 'serve the poor'.
" I had appeared for the interview to become an army man and wanted to serve the nation. I had appeared for the interview to become an army jawan after I completed my intermediate from JS College in Daltonganj. I had successfully completed the running round but during the interview I was asked for Rs. 40000 as a bribe." Said Vinuji.
"I am the son of a peasant and I could not afford such a heavy amount to join the most elite force of nation. I was upset after finding corruption everywhere. in 2005 I came in contact with Naxal policies against corruption and their fight for the poor lured me become a naxal cadre and fight against corruption" added Vinu.
On being asked why he was so upset with the banned organization that he decided to leave it, he said: " Senior Naxal leaders and politburo members use poor villagers as their weapons to earn money. They force the poor farmers' children, some as young as 12 to hold weapon and face the bullets of the security forces. Their children study in good schools and later become doctors and engineers while the children of the poor die fighting the security personnel".
